This is a beautiful example of quite a rare car nowadays, this is a very late production, 1990 Aston Martin V8 Volante EFi. She is an Automatic car with 59k Miles from new and a great service history. One of 216 V8 Volante EFi produced between 1986-1990, chassis 15840 is one of just 44 right hand drive examples and the only right hand drive example delivered new in Winchester Blue coachwork, it is also the second to last EFi Volante ever produced and and the ninth from last ever V8 Volante, no. 840 of the 849 cars built!

'It's not by any means the world's most expensive drophead in production (the Corniche costs an extra £23, 000) nor is it quite the quickest, though a Porsche Cabrio would have to be very well driven to get away from it, but the Aston Martin Volante is perhaps the greatest. It is a true sports car which is also luxuriously comfortable.' - Fast Lane.

Aston Martin had always intended the DBS to house its new V8 engine, but production difficulties meant that the car first appeared with the DB6's 4. 0-litre six. Bigger and more luxuriously appointed than the DB6, the heavyweight DBS disappointed some by virtue of its slightly reduced performance, but there were no complaints when the V8 finally arrived in 1969. With an estimated 315bhp available from its 5, 340cc four-cam motor, the DBS V8 could reach 100mph in under 14 seconds, running on to a top speed of 160mph, a staggering performance in those days and one which fully justified the claim that it was the fastest production car in the world.

After Aston Martin's acquisition by Company Developments in 1972, production resumed with the Series 2, now known as the Aston Martin V8 and distinguishable by a restyled front end recalling the looks of earlier Astons. The most successful Aston Martin ever, the V8 survived the changes of ownership and financial upheavals of the 1970s, enjoying a record-breaking production run lasting from 1969 to 1988, with 2, 919 cars sold.

Described by former Aston Martin Chairman Victor Gauntlett as, 'a stylish thoroughbred, beautifully built, luxurious, fast and immensely safe,' the V8 was built in several variants, one of the more exclusive being the Volante convertible. Introduced in response to customers' demands for such a car, the Volante first appeared in June 1978. Arguably the ultimate in soft-top luxury, the newcomer boasted a lined, power-operated hood which, when erected, endowed the walnut embellished interior with all the solidity and refinement associated with the saloon version. Although its open-car aerodynamics meant that top speed suffered with the hood down, the Volante's 150mph maximum nevertheless ranked it among the world's fastest convertibles. V8 Volante and Vantage Volante chassis numbers ran from '15001' to '15849', a total of 849 cars.

Ordered direct from the factory by the first owner Paul Hammerson of Fitzjohns Avenue, London NW1, specified in Winchester Blue coachwork with Parchment hides piped Navy Blue, Navy Blue hood and carpets with wool overrugs and bespoke Tanne and Krolle Aston Martin fitted luggage, the car was used regularly for many years before being put into storage by in an underground car park near Regents Park where it remained until 2015 when the the car was given to specialists Aston Service London for major recommissioning, the mileage at that time was 21, 881.

Invoices on file show the cost of this work as £16, 651 and included having the AC system upgraded, new brake servos, master cylinder, braided brake lines, new radiator and new fuel lines for the injection system. According to Mrs Hammerson her husband used the car as his daily transport from 2015 to when he passed away in 2021, accruing a further 29, 231 miles which included regular and reliable trips touring in Europe. So this was a single owner car fron new until 2021.

In June 2021 the car was sold by Aston Martin specialists RS Williams to a well known Aston expert who entrusted it to their workshops for major cosmetic restoration work to the chassis and body that included repairs to the inner sills and new outer stills fitted, following this the car was expertly repainted in its original colour, this work was all documented with invoices on file costing over £25, 000. The original bumpers were repaired and plated and a set of new Ronal wheels and tires fitted together with an original Nardi steering wheel and a Blaupunkt Bremen radio with DAB and a Bluetooth car kit. Mechanical work at this time included a full and comprehensive service with an overhaul to the front suspension and a big bore exhaust being fitted as well as a recent rebuild of the water pump.

Since the work was completed this fabulous and visually very striking car has covered aprox 9, 000 trouble free miles and remains in very fine order and in great running condition, with the total milage now showing at just over 59, 000. It comes with a large history file that contains all the details of the recent restoration including many pictures, the original factory handbook and warranty card, two sets of keys and the original fitted luggage. This is a rare opportunity to buy one of the very last of a great line! Low mileage and low ownership makes this a great proposition!
