It came to our attention recently that we no longer have a Defender in our stock portfolio, after our immaculate 110 left us for the lovely island of Ireland, which frankly, just won’t do!
So we sent our intrepid buyer out and told him to come back with something special. What Dan returned with was this imposing and rarely seen “High Capacity” single cab Defender pick-up with a genuine 18432 miles on its odometer and just the 1 owner, mission accomplished!!
The History
Supplied by Lancaster Land Rover of Reading and registered on 20th of April 2012, our Land Rover was purchased by a gentleman in Slough who kept it for the next 11 years. It is the final iteration of the iconic Defender and it boasts a lovely service history to back up its incredibly low mileage. It has just had a service carried out at Marshall Land Rover in Cheltenham (our local main dealer)
The Mechanicals
Under the bonnet is a 2. 2 litre turbo diesel engine delivering 120bhp to all four wheels through a six speed manual transmission with high and low ratio transfer box and diff lock. Ensuring, like all Defenders, it can be driven pretty much anywhere! Being a Hi-Cap it can also tow up to 3500kgs, which is very useful should you want to put this one to work. It, of course, goes without saying our 110 is mechanically very sound and drives pretty much as new
The Exterior
Finished in Tamar Blue with White roof and White steel wheels, our Landy presents very nicely. It is an 11 year old Defender, so it is not without a few imperfections but nothing ugly or untoward and it is clear to see that this particular 110 has lived a very easy life thus far.
The chassis is in excellent condition and has recently been “Lanogaurd” treated, so should remain that way for many years to come. All 4 wheels are corrosion and damage free and are wrapped in a matching set of Michelin Latitude tyres.
The Interior
This is has to be one of the nicest condition interiors you’re ever likely find in an 11 year old Defender. The vinyl twill seats are unmarked as is the dash. The door cards and plastics are all damage free and the steering wheel and control surfaces all show the very minimal wear you would expect to see with a vehicle that has only covered 18. 5k miles.
Conclusion
This is a superb example of the rare “High Capacity” Defender pickup with an incredible low mileage, which is backed up by the online MOT history and service stamps. It has an advisory free MOT (in fact it has never had an advisory) until August, we would however be more than happy to put a new MOT on for you.
Our Hi-Cap pickup was designed to haul heavier payloads than any normal Defender and it looks fantastic to boot, a sure fire future classic commercial that would make an excellent addition to any collection, or an incredibly capable and usable works truck.
As with all our classic and retro cars, we have described the Defender honestly and with transparency, drawing attention to the good points and the imperfections equally, allowing you to make an informed decision.
