We are delighted to present for sale this 1981 Land Rover® Series 3 Ragtop, completed in desirable Light Pastel Green colour scheme with Limestone Wheels.
Externally, all the features one would want to see are here – the rear grab handles, new canvas, towbar to help with pulling a trailer, recent bumper, 750 tyres for a better stance and increased gearing over standard (our own set) along with a matching bonnet mounted spare, original galvanised cappings, etc – In our opinion, we think this all culminates in a vehicle which really looks great – the bodywork is a spray type finish rather than a brush, which is also nice to note. This colour scheme is rarer to see and really attracts the attention of the public as you drive along.
The inside is largely standard, with three front deluxe seats, along with deluxe matting to the footwells, to give a premium feel. A set of rear bench seats is fitted to bring seating for seven occupants including the driver, and a heavy duty floor mat is fitted in the rear, with sound deadening acoustic matting on the underside. This then offers the whole family an opportunity to enjoy the vintage cool of a Classic Land Rover®, for trips to the pub, shops or the beach.
Out on the road, this old girl delivers a pleasing period drive – aided by a Weber Carburettor for increased power over standard, a Kenlowe fan to keep things cool, “Fairey” Free wheeling hubs for superior fuel economy and to limit axle wear, and a set of our 750 military style tyres for increased gearing, to reduce revs when cruising and to give a good stance, as well as the best possible compromise between on & off road ability.
In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 that can carry the whole family, whilst looking cool and benefitting from MOT & Tax Exemption, along with classic insurances, then this could be for you. We do not often see vehicles in this (originally optional) colour scheme and they always seem to sell quickly – so do not dither if it catches your eye!
