We are very pleased to offer a very low mileage Targa Red 1986 Austin Mini City E. This little gem has only covered 51k in 38 years which equates to just 1300 miles per year and is presented in fantastic condition and close to how it left the factory apart from a set of Rover Minilite wheels and a Cooper chrome grille. (Original grille available) Its accompanied with a large service history folder original handbooks, spare keys and raft of previous MOT certificates and has only had two previous keepers. The last owners have cared for it since 2005 and in that time it has been garaged and used mainly for attending shows, a list of some of them is included in the file. Its condition is testament to this very lucky Mini being loved and cherished its whole life, it still has all of its original panels which is very rare. It does not seem that long ago that original factory spec eighties Mini were quite a common sight on the roads but know they are quite rare as so many have been modified and changed. Its a real pleasure to have this time warp survivor in stock and I hope its lucky new keeper will preserve its original charm for years to come.
On the road its a joy to drive, The low mileage 998 engine is very smooth and performs well, as you would expect the gearbox is smooth and precise and the Mini handles well and still has that taught low mileage feeling. This era of Mini benefited from disc brakes so you can confidently push on through the lanes, they also have a drive anywhere feel to them, as a result they make a great introduction to both the world of Minis and Classic cars as they can be a daily driver or a Classic. I have covered many miles in this City including Motorways and it performs beautifully and just puts a smile on your face.
The interior of this City is pure eighties Time warp, its very hard to find a Mini from this era that has such a well preserved interior, again a sign of a cared for life. The original brown hounds tooth check seats are virtually unmarked as are the door cards, carpets and roof liner. The dash is again virtually unmarked with correct two clock binnacle and the original steering wheel. Its an absolute pleasure to sit inside this Mini, the City E spec offers no frills just the pure Mini experience.
As you would expect this Mini has a very solid shell. It wears its original vented sills. gleaming body coloured floor pans and untouched boot floor. It has all of its original panels and the Targa red paintwork is very well presented and belies its near 40 year vintage. Targa red was only used during 1986 so there are very few Minis in this shade. This Mini has a fantastic original appearance with a well preserved shell to match and it has been a pleasure to both work on and drive.
This City is fully serviced, checked and driven and has a full MOT and is ready to go and start a new Classic Mini adventure. It will also be Tax and MOT exempt in the next few years.
