Jaguar Mark IX, finished in two tone of British racing green over Sherwood green, with green leather interior. The Mark Nine beautifully demonstrates the continued efforts of the Jaguar engineers in delivering the ideal luxury car of its era. Regarded in its day to have phenomenal acceleration and cruising speeds of 80/ 90mph and a maximum speed of 115mph.
BACKGROUND
This 1959 example was first registered in Northern Ireland, before later and in the hands of the second owner relocating to Southern Ireland. The 3rd and current owner then shipped the vehicle over to the UK in 2016 where it has been ever since.
The Mark Nine arrived in the UK and was assigned an age related plate, however not that of the mark that it had been assigned when first registered (1500 XI). The current owner went to great lengths to reacquaint the vehicle with its original plate, on which it proudly still brands today.
With just 3 owners and having covered a very respectable 65, 685 miles since new, this has to be one of the rarest Mark Nine’s left in existence. A heritage certificate also adds to the provenance that this vehicle boasts.
This vehicle won best in class in the SNG Barratt trophy in 2018 for originality and provenance. This Mark Nine displays a lovely patina, that is truly appreciated in the knowledge of its originality. Door trims still hold the factory plastics, suggesting they’ve not been off since new.
The Jaguar service, operating and maintenance handbook is present, along with the original instruction book for the 6-valve radio.
MECHANICAL
The mighty Jaguar 3. 8 litre straight 6 produces a powerful 220bhp. 0-60mph is achieved in just 11. 3 secs. A 3 speed automatic gearbox delivers a luxury feel when behind the wheel. Add to that the Mark Nine comes complete with power steering and disc brakes all around, this vehicle encapsulates safety features that remain on modern cars of today.
EXTERIOR
The stunning two tone paintwork is in great condition, although showing some pitting in the paintwork if being overly critical. Otherwise, the doors all fit as if they should with panel gaps all as normal. Opening quarter windows on front and rear windows give the Mark nine real character.
INTERIOR
The interior of the Mark Nine is what makes it so special. The feeling of comfort and luxury feels unrivalled when you’re sat in the vehicle. Beautiful wooden rear tray tables and complete tool kits in both driver and passenger doors. The original valve radio is present and functional.
