Description
This is a 1975 BMW R90/ 6.
The R90 was relatively short lived model….. expensive at the time, and always in the shadow of its poster boy brother, the R90S. As a result, very few seem to come up for sale.
This particular bike was imported from the USA in 2015, and other than the importer, has had the same owner for the last 7 or 8 years. Always a good sign. A staunch VMCC member, the owner has obviously cared for the bike in his ownership, and it looks, runs and rides like a 70’s Airhead should. She starts readily from hot or cold, with no smoke or rattles, and with good oil pressure. Also charging well. Compressions are strong and even, and sensibly, electronic ignition is fitted. Mileage is showing only 7k miles, so is unlikely to be accurate, but paintwork is absolutely lovely, and frame paint is original. Obviously matching engine and frame numbers, and Historic status, so MOT exempt and road tax free.
The bike is almost original spec. other than some sensible upgrades such as Hagon rear shocks, touring bars, and that electronic ignition. I was going to fit a set of Krauser panniers, but the bike does come with a set of colour matched period Craven panniers.
I’m sure that I’ll have missed stuff, but all in all, a good, honest old Boxer, and increasingly rare in this spec.
