Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The NEC Classic Motor Show Sale 2023 - Cars on Saturday the 11th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. For 1970, the C-Series 911 was introduced with a larger cylinder bore giving a capacity of 2, 195cc, producing 125bhp and now badged as a 'T' at this power output. Alterations to suspension pick-up points improved the handling and gave a little more steering feel and 6'' Fuchs 'five-leaf' forged alloys were now a standard fit.
Offered here is a really impressive left-hand drive 911T Targa that was first delivered on 21st December 1969 by Porsche Audi, Pleasanton, California finished in Light Ivory with a black leatherette interior. The car remained in the US until 2015 when it was imported to the UK but, before leaving the US, it was repainted to a high standard. Unusually for a US car, there are lots of invoices and correspondence in the accompanying history file from its time over there. Also in the file is the Porsche Letter of Authenticity, original wallet with maintenance books/ manuals, maintenance records with bills and receipts along with the California licence plate.
Once in the UK, the Targa was entrusted to Porsche Specialist, Prill Classic Porsche, who comprehensively serviced and prepared it with invoices, dated 2016, on file. Our vendor purchased the car from William I’Anson in August 2017 and it has formed part of his private Collection ever since and, during his ownership, it appears to have been looked after by Porsche specialists, Carrera Performance and Nine Excellence, with invoices detailing the work carried out.
Overall, this is a very nicely presented example with the paintwork refreshed in the States standing the test of time and retaining a deep shine. The black leatherette interior with charcoal carpets looks absolutely period-correct, and the push-button Blaupunkt Blue Spot completes the picture. Reported to drive particularly well, this is an example to use and enjoy and is certainly one for the early 911 enthusiast. A rather cool Ski-Rack has been fitted and, as a left-hand drive car in this colour, the little Targa would look totally at home in any Alpine ski resort.
Early 911s possess a certain purity of line, particularly in white, a complete world away from the aerodynamic extravagances of the 1980s and 1990s, and in terms of style, it's the early cars that engender the most appreciative glances. A well set-up and maintained 911T, 'E' or 'S' driven with an intelligent right foot will provide some of the most quintessentially rewarding driving experiences you have ever had, and even the 125bhp 911T for sale here will leave you with a serious grin.
