We are delighted to present for sale this high specification 200DI (turbo removed) ? finished in the popular Mid Grey colour scheme, with a raft of upgrades targeting making the vehicle more usable, whilst giving the capacity to carry the whole family on any excursion.
Externally, this has all the features you?d hope to see ? the bodywork has been completed to a good standard, and is a previously done spray finish ? there are vintage number plates, a recent bumper for that fresh look, a set of Michelin 750 Latitude Tyres to fill the arches, a recent canvas, rear grab handles, rear step to allow easy loading into the rear for passengers, towbar with electrics to allow towing ? etc etc etc. We think this really looks the part and, based on the attention which we got whilst on our test route, the general public seem to agree! There is much more to say on the exterior, but the photographs do the talking here.
On the inside, there are 7 seats, with 3 front standard seats along with deluxe matting to the footwells, and twin rear benches, with 4 lap belts and a load mat to the rear floor. It is great to see items like the original diesel hand throttle are still in place on the bulkhead. The dash is also pleasingly standard throughout. This Series 3 can carry the whole family, along with the dog ? no matter what you plan to do ? be it a trip to the beach, pub, the woods, or just the school run for the upcoming inclement weather?. be it snow, flooding or icy conditions.
Where this Series 3 really stands out though, is in the driving experience?.. the 200DI engine (turbo removed to protect the gearbox against wear) drives well ? affording the new keeper almost double the horsepower of the original period engine set up. Coupling this with an overdrive, and larger Michelin road-biased tyres, rather than feeling you are holding the traffic up ? not only can you keep with the flow, but hassle it too, if so desired? it?ll go far faster than the new owner will want to go. Parabolic Springs have been fitted, with Pro Comp shock absorbers ? with the cross-climate tread, this means the very best ride comfort possible in a Series. It is a joy when compared with the original, leaf sprung set ups. If you are looking to use a Series far more frequently than the original brief intended ? this is the vehicle for you? we are always cautious when describing any Classic Land Rover® as a ?daily driver?? but this is as close as one can get to having the cake and eating it!
In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 that can carry the family, dig you out of a hole during bad weather, look great on a summer day and be as versatile as possible ? then this could be for you. Many like the idea of the Classic Land Rover® look, but the period driving experience means they cannot use it as regularly as they would wish to? and that is where this Series 3 can come in and (as far as reasonably possible for a 40 year old truck) to step up to the plate!
