1938 AC March 16/70 Special For Sale

  • United Kingdom

Description

L591 was first registered on the 1st of March 1938 and is said to have lived its early life just off of Cadogan Square in Knightsbridge.
The car eventually turned up in the Bristol area in 1976, this is when Mr Cadogan (fittingly named!) purchased it in desperate need of restoration. Over the next 8 years, it was restored back to a roadworthy state, done in small sections to work with a very tight budget.
The car carried on through a sympathetic restoration, light use, and fettling all the way up until 2005, when a new owner is recorded in the file as a Mr Williams.
Within the first year of ownership, the engine was fully refurbished, along with the gearbox at great expense. However, this stint of ownership was fairly short-lived, as in January of 2006 a new keeper, by the name of Mr White, was recorded with the DVLA.
Sadly, there is no history or paperwork to enlighten us about the time the car spent with Mr White, which in turn leads up to its next, and current, owner.
In June 2014, Hero-ERA purchased the car from Mr White to prepare and maintain it as part of their touring and historic rallying fleet. Throughout its current ownership, the car has been incredibly well cared for, with a real ?no expense spared? attitude.
Invoices on file for this period of ownership amount to an excess of £34, 500, which include, but are not limited to:
Comprehensive Engine Rebuild
New Exhaust Manifolds
All Brake Shoes Relined
All New Tyres / Inner Tubes
Full Dyno Testing for Engine Setup
Refurbished Dynamo
New Tonneau
Re-coloured & Re-proofed the hood
Refurbsihed Water Pump Fitted
New Heater Fitted
New Fuel & Tank Filter?s Fitted
New Carpets Fitted
In overview, this AC March would make a perfect tourer for an aspiring classic car enthusiast. It has a wonderful history, and proven track record for being a reliable car through many continental events.
As ever, if you would like to arrange to come and view the car, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
