Description
Ford Escort RS2000– Restored/ 5 Speed Gearbox
The squarer-styled Mark 2 Escort appeared in January 1975. The L/ GL/ Ghia models were the mainstream of production while the Sport, RS Mexico and RS2000 were aimed at the performance market and proved an instant success.
Today the classic styling, entertaining handling, Fast Ford history (+ repeats of The Professionals) have led to a sharp rise in interest and values with good examples being snapped up by a new generation of classic car enthusiasts.
At Milestones we like to find cars that pass Jamie’s forensic inspection and can be marketed for a sensible price to our customer base. This late (October 1980) RS 2000 Custom finished in the original colour of Terracotta certainly ticks all those boxes.
The RS has had just six keepers from new, the previous custodian owned the car for nearly 30 years. When Mr Anderson bought the car in 1989, he embarked on a restoration and a series of upgrades to create a car that drove as good as it looked. Today she remains a credit to his knowledge and enthusiasm.

Today the car still presents extremely well – the test of any restoration – nice paint with just the very slight blemish commensurate with light use and lots of love over the past 30 years.
This super original car has the Custom specification interior (mirror adjuster, late steering wheel etc) and she still rides on her original RS Alloys. There is a large history file back to 1989 with lots and lots of invoices, MOTs and Divers Handbook.
This RS2000 is perfect for someone looking for a car with desirable in period modifications to simply use and enjoy. Alternatively, you could buy, use, improve/ put your own mark on the car in your time.
Jamie and I have both driven this RS and she is a totally engaging drive that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face - we love her!
With a skittish rear end and five-speed box to give gearing more suitable for today's roads this is a car to be used and enjoyed.
