Morris Motors launched the Morris Eight to compete with Ford Motor Company's Model 'Y'. The Morris Eight became one of the UK's most popular pre war cars. The car was powered by a simple 918 cc side valve 4 cylinder engine that enabled the Eight to reach speeds of 58 mph !!! The Morris Eight Tourer is now a fairly rare model on the Classic car scene, easy to maintain with a good spares back up. The Morris register provides excellent support and valuable information of running pre war cars.
The quite superb series 2 example we offer here was first registered in Wolverhampton on the 7th of October 1937 where it spent the majority of it's life. The car has been in the same family for something like 40 years. The car passed into the hands of the son of the last owner having been in store for some 30 years. The gentleman in question then set about a full ground up restoration and was only completed a few months ago. During the rebuild the engine was completely rebuilt with all ancilliaries being either replaced or refurbished. At the same time the opportunity was taken to replace the old 3 speed gearbox with a 4 speed unit from the later series E model. The interior was completely replaced with new leather upholstery and new carpets. The braking system overhauled with new copper nickel pipes and refurbished master cylinder. A stainless steel exhaust was fitted. The speedo has been recalibrated to take care of the replacement 4 speed gearbox. The hood frame was refurbished and powder coated and a new hood and side screens fitted. The comes with its own car cover and an extensive history file that even contains it's old buff log book and photographic record of restoration.
I really defy you to find a better example.
