Description

An unusual and stylish ‘airline’ sports saloon of a design that seems to have been favoured by William Arnold. As well as the streamlined 'tail', features include louvred bonnet & scuttle and broad, chrome waistline mouldings. We have just carried out some refurbishment, new clutch, etc, and a great deal was spent by the last owners on maintenance and repairs, amounting to nearly £70, 000 between 1990 and 2023, all of which is documented by invoices. We also have a run of MoT certificates going back to 1990 and a full ownership list. The car is sound, running and driving well, but would benefit from some cosmetic tidying. Appealingly different! Offered newly MoT tested

Chassis No. GOH6 Reg No. CMA 948 £29, 500

Snippets: Auctioneer, Inventor, Solicitor & Artist
The first owner of GOH6 was William Rowley Sutton (1874/ 1944) whose great-grandfather Joseph Sutton made enough money from his timber business to rent Timperley Hall which was originally built as a moated hall but by the early 1800s had been rebuilt as a brick mansion. The Sutton family concerns included timber, surveyor, rent collectors, public houses & auctioneers.
After William’s death in 1944 the 20/ 25 was bought by Norman Binns Coop of Blackburn who was an engineer, sailor and in 1928 he took our various patents for electricity and gas meters. Prior to the outbreak of WWII Norman was named in a divorce petition issued by Gordon Henry Richards (a slate merchant of Caernarfon) for his involvement with his wife Mabel Richards! The 3rd private owner of GOH6 was Sir Dingwall Lathan Bateson (1898/ 1967) a solicitor & friend of Noel Coward who named his speedboat Dingo after Sir Bateson. Some 9 years later and GOH6 was with the artist Peter Miller (1939/ 2014) who over his lifetime produced over 3, 500 works varying from portraits, cars, ballet and scenery. The 1970s to the 1990s saw GOH6 spend time in America with Robert J Nelson and John Milchick both of California before the Rolls-Royce was re-imported in 1990 by Douglas Rotberg of Bletchingley.
