2. 6-litre four-cylinder Knight sleeve-valve engine
Highly original
An older restoration
Present ownership since 2002
Well known in VCC circles
A most original example, this Knight sleeve-valve-engined Daimler TG15 2. 6-litre four-cylinder car has been well known in Veteran Car Club circles for many years. In the early 1950s it was owned by VCC stalwart, John Burchell, and since then has been in continuous enthusiast ownership. The Daimler has been the subject of an older restoration, now nicely matured, and is presented in maroon livery with black and gold lining and deep-buttoned blue leather upholstery. It is equipped with Rotax Electrolight brass headlamps, the distinctive Daimler centre-mounted curly horn, a brass rear-view mirror, a running board-mounted spare wheel, and a Stewart speedometer. It also has a beige hood, a luggage grid to the rear, and Rotax Leitner dashboard electrics. In the previous ownership the car was maintained in good running order, used regularly and shown at appropriate events in its local area. Our vendor purchased the car at Bonhams' Beaulieu sale in 2002 (Lot 375) and describes it as in good condition throughout, with age-related wear and tear.
This practical and comparatively quick British Edwardian is offered with an old-style buff logbook (issued 1953), a VCC Dating Certificate (recording no major modifications), and a current V5C registration document.
