Description

The Rover 90 was announced in 1954 as the performance Rover featuring a larger 2. 6 litre engine delivering 90 mph from 90 bhp.

It featured the addition of the Lucas SLR 700 ‘flame thrower’ Spot Lamp mounted to the side of the grille and of course Rover 90 badging .

Overdrive made available for 1956 and engine power increased again. Braking was uprated with a power boost system, and the interior trim upgraded to deeply pleated leather upholstery.

188 KMY was registered in January 1956 by Middlesex County Council. It’s clear from the files that from then on KMY has been a cherished motor car.

From 2001 to 2023 it was owned by a noted Rover enthusiast who maintained and improved the car as required including a gearbox rebuild, new brake booster, rear springs and many other running replacements of which the invoices are witness.

The 1956 model Rovers kept the low wing styling and high mounted sidelights which distinguishes them from the P4 Rovers that followed.

Excellent performance, precise handling and power brakes make for an easy drive in today’s traffic, and the 70 mph cruising speed is ideal for touring..

Finished immaculately in Rover Ivory, and trimmed in original Sage Green leather, 188 KMY is a stunning example of the distinctive and rare early Rover 90.

It needs to go to an appreciative enthusiast.
