Built from 2000 to 2004 by former Formula 2 racer and RAF driver Roger Sweet. For the production of the bodywork, which he designed himself, he called on Stuart Roach of Roach Engineering in the UK, who was certainly the best choice for such a project. Roger named his car "Franziss", a contraction of Frazer-Nash-Curtiss. The Curtiss OX was the most important and successful American aero-engine of the First World War. It was the first mass-produced aircraft engine in the United States, available in 1915, and was used for a variety of purposes throughout the war. The Curtiss-powered OX 5 Jenny biplanes were water-cooled, had a displacement of 503 cubic inches and were 8. 2-litre units weighing 395 pounds (177 kg). This engine was capable of producing 90 horsepower. A special feature of this engine is that its rocker arms are exposed, allowing the components to be observed when the engine is running. The engine in our car is also fitted with a Miller roller rocker arm conversion. Mark Walker, British 05 expert and builder and driver of successful aero-powered racing cars, says: ".... It's a beautiful engine - very reliable, beautifully made and bloody quick." The car is beautifully engineered and has been shown at VSCC events in the UK since its debut at Silverstone in April 2004. From 2004 to 2013, Roger raced his Franzniss not only in the UK (Mallory Park, Oulton Park, etc.) but also in the USA at Watkins Glen, Lime Rock Historics and Elkhart Lake, as well as in France. At each race, Roger improved the engine and the car technically, making it faster and more powerful at each stage, until it was both very fast and very reliable. In 2013, Roger started another project and so decided to part with his creation, Franziss found a new home in the VOLANTE collection in Germany. Along with the car were tons of documents, designs and drawings, manuals and handwritten notes. Immediately, the new owners began to design a modified and more elegant body for the car because, in their eyes, Franziss was a little too wide in the hips. Stuart Roach was called in again, and the results speak for themselves. The new bodywork is accompanied by a new name: the Frazer Nash Curtiss becomes the Curtiss Frazer Nash. This is an extremely fast car that recently underwent a thorough engine check at Blakeney Motorsport in the UK. A replacement OX 5 engine can be included in the sale at an additional cost.
