William I'Anson Ltd is pleased to offer for sale the Ex – Derek May, Colin Singleton, Modsports, 1957 Austin Healey 100/ 6 to ‘3000’ FIA Specification.
Originally registered as a road-going Austin Healey 100/ 6 with the registration 888 DTB, which it retains to this day. It is understood the car was converted for Modsports racing in the late 1960s, early 1970s by R. H. Lister and Derek C. May, and as can be seen from a period photograph it was modified with the customary wide wheel arches and was painted orange with a black hardtop.
Purchased from J. K. Palmer by Colin Singleton in 1987, still in it’s Mod-sports specification after years without use, Singleton restored the car to its HSCC specification and achieved success in the Top Gear British Heritage Championship and the Austin-Healey Club’s Race Championship.
Equipped with a 3. 0-litre straight-six engine, triple Weber carburettors, an upgraded gearbox and a Quaife limited-slip differential, 888 DTB has undergone continuous development over its racing career, including a recent work by OC Racing, replacing the fuel and brake lines.
These early FIA Healey's continue to show how competitive, dependable and of course eligible they are for such a wide array of prestigious historic motorsport events such as Goodwood, Motor Racing Legends Pall Mall Cup, Le Mans Classic, Peter Auto and GTSCC, as well as tours and rallies such as the Tour Auto and Modena Centro Ore.
