FOR SALE: 2017 Superformance GT40 MK1
On behalf of the owner, we’re offering something really special – a 2017 Superformance GT40 Mk1, finished in the iconic 1966 Le Mans-winning black with silver stripes. If you’ve ever dreamt of owning a GT40 that looks, sounds and feels like the original, this is about as close as you can get.
The car was delivered in March 2017 and has done under 2, 700 miles since. It’s UK-registered with a 1966 plate for that proper period look. It’s not flawless — there’s some light cosmetic wear and a bit of patina in places — but it presents very well overall, like a well-maintained period car that’s been used as intended.
This is a proper right-hand-drive example with the sill-mounted gearshift – just like the original cars. Both seats are trimmed in black Alcantara and fitted with Willans 4-point harnesses. There’s air-con for those warmer days and full carpeting, including over the door sills. It also has a quick-release steering wheel, a fire extinguisher in the passenger footwell, and a battery kill switch next to the driver’s seat – practical touches that make it feel ready to go at a moment’s notice.
Power comes from a Roush 347R with 8 Stack injection and fast ignition, managed by an FI control ECU and paired with a Quaife RFQ 5-speed transaxle. The exhaust is a silver ceramic-coated “bundle of snakes” – and yes, it sounds absolutely fantastic.
The suspension is fully independent front and rear, running H&R coilovers, and the car sits on 15” Halibrand-style GT40 wheels with Avon CR6 ZZ tyres (225mm front, 295mm rear). Quick jack points are fitted front (in red) and rear (in black), and the rear clamshell is supported by gas struts. Up front, it’s got the trademark twin nostrils, and there’s a “Gurney bubble” on the driver’s side for extra headroom.
It’s available now for £172, 995 – a fair price for a car that turns heads wherever it goes and genuinely delivers the experience people talk about when they say “analogue driving thrills.”
