Magnificent Porsche 356 Pre A Knickscheibe coupé from 1954. This car was ordered by the famous Porsche dealer Hoffman in New York. It was ordered as a standard coupe in black with a green leather interior with the only options being a sleeper seat and a pair of Bosch headlights. The customer for whom it was ordered was a Mr Plummer. Perhaps Christopher Plummer? The famous actor and Porsche enthusiast? At some point, the car returned to Europe where it was fully restored to its elegant beige colour with brown leather interior. The bodywork was fully restored before being painted and is still in exceptional condition. Mechanically, the car was fitted with a 1500cc four-cylinder flat engine, which was correct for its time, but is no longer in use. Unfortunately, we don't know why the engine was changed. The engine has been completely rebuilt, as has the gearbox, and runs like new. All the other mechanical components have also been given a facelift. What's more, everything has been kept as original as possible. Still in 6V configuration! The brown leather interior is in very good condition, as is the rest of the interior. The dashboard has its VDO gauges all rebuilt and working well. You'll notice that the Telefunken radio is still in its place. The front boot houses a chrome spare wheel and a new Optima 6V battery which is connected to a battery switch located under the dashboard. The exterior of the car features 2 Marchal high beam headlamps, a Nurburgring badge and the Reutter logo. A bonnet carrier is supplied with the car but is not fitted at present. All new wheels have been fitted with new vintage tyres in size 5. 00-16. If you are looking for the ancestor of all Porsches, this is the car you are looking for. MECANICIMPORT. The full body was restored before being painted and is still in outstanding condition. Mecanically the car has received a period correct 1500cc flat four engine, but not matching any more. Any records on why this car swapped engine is unfortunately unknown. The engine is completely rebuild aswell as the gearbox and runs as new. All other mecanical components also received a rejuvenation cure. Also all was kept as original as possible. Still in 6V configuration! The front luggage compartment houses a chrome spare wheel and a new Optima 6V battery which is connected to a battery kill-switch underneath the dashboard. On the outside of the car you will find 2 Marchal driving lights, a Nurburgring badge and Reutter logo. An engine hood luggage rack comes with the car but is not fitted at this time.
