Description
The Mercedes-Benz W124 was introduced in 1984 as the successor to the iconic W123 series. Design-wise, the W124 was more angular than the W123, aligning with the Mercedes W201 190 series. This brought a significant aerodynamic improvement, making the car one of the most streamlined on the market with a Cd value of 0. 28.
The W124 featured several interesting innovations. It was equipped with a single windshield wiper that, through an eccentric mechanism, could sweep the entire glass. The car also had foldable headrests to improve rear visibility. Additionally, it was among the first cars to offer airbags and was the second mass-produced model to feature a lightweight steel body. In 1991, the W124 Cabriolet was introduced, internally designated as the A124. This model received a facelift in 1993, along with the rest of the lineup, which included the renaming to the E-Class, such as this E 200.
The W124 is renowned as one of the most reliable and well-built cars ever produced. The choice of materials and level of craftsmanship still reflect the quality and care with which these cars were designed and built.
This A124 E 200 Cabriolet was manufactured in 1994. Originally delivered new in Italy, it was sold a few years later to its second owner, who used the car for a residence in the South of France. The A124 has been registered in the Netherlands since 2018, and we sold it to the current owner in early 2021. With just 129, 566 km, this E 200 Cabriolet is in beautiful condition. The car is finished in elegant Almandine Red with a black/ grey checkered fabric interior, giving it a very charming appearance. It features desirable options such as an automatic transmission and automatic air conditioning. Combined with the original and rare “glanzgedreht” wheels, it is a truly timeless car.
Both the exterior and interior are immaculate, and the convertible top is in good condition. This Mercedes E 200 Cabriolet drives exceptionally well, and like every W124/ A124, it was built to last a lifetime. Furthermore, the car comes with a complete folder containing its history and maintenance invoices.
The choice is yours: enjoy it on the road or add it to a collection.
