Description
This claret and black Austin 14/ 6 Goodwood is a lovely old thing – built at Longbridge in 1937, then spending time in New Zealand before finding its way back home in 1990. Inside you’ll find brown recovered seats with plenty of character, and under the bonnet a smooth six-cylinder engine with a four-speed floor-change box that makes it a very usable pre-war saloon.
It’s had lots of care over the years, with bills showing over £3, 500 spent recently on electrical work, brakes, wheel bearings and five fresh tyres. There’s also a chunky history file, with photos of an earlier restoration, old MoTs, club magazines, period brochures and the original handbook – even previous V5Cs are included.
Believed to have possibly seen service life in its early years, the Austin now makes a fine, driveable classic with a great presence on the road. Comfortable, distinctive and full of charm, it’s ready to be enjoyed at shows, rallies or simply as a weekend runabout with a story to tell.
