Designed by Pininfarina and constructed by Scaglietti, the Ferrari 308 GTB’s striking wedge silhouette set a new stylistic direction for the marque, one that would resonate through Maranello’s offerings for decades to come. Particularly prized are the earliest examples—the first 712—which were constructed of lightweight fibreglass coachwork (vetroresina in Italian) and are today revered for their lithe handling, crisp responsiveness, and purity of performance.
The 308 GTB ‘Vetroresina’ on offer, chassis number 19185, is a fascinating, Italian-home market example that has remained a lifelong resident of its native country. Elegantly finished in Marrone Dino Metallizzato over Beige trim with brown carpets, the car was sold new on 21 May 1976 to Mr Rubei Rosario of Amatrice, Italy via official Ferrari dealer Motor S. p. A. Roma. The car’s accompanying estratto cronologico shows chassis 19185 remaining with Rosario for the next 45 years before selling to a fellow tifosi, a resident of Rome, in 2022. While based in Rome, the Ferrari received some restoration work by marque specialist Scuderia Baldini. In February 2025, the 308 GTB was certified with a Ferrari Classiche “Red Book” that confirmed the presence of its matching-numbers chassis, engine, and gearbox.
The Ferrari is offered with a copy of its estratto cronologico, as well as its original instruction manual, dealer directory, warranty and service booklet, and “Red Book”. It is a wonderfully preserved example of this increasingly sought-after model.
