On November 18, 1957, this Jaguar XK 150 3. 4 Litre Fixed Head Coupe was shipped to Jaguar Cars New York USA, where a few months later it came into the possession of the first owner, Mr. CJ Rotter. The beautiful coupe remained in the USA until a Dutch collector specifically wanted to add this type to his Jaguar collection. We are talking about the year 2014. The car was in need of a complete restoration and was entrusted to the expert hands of the Coventry company from Uden. This specialist is a dedicated partner of the XK's owner and maintains all his English cars.
We probably don't need to explain to enthusiasts and experts how much time and effort it takes to restore a car like this down to the very last bolt. It took several years, partly because several cars were being restored for the owner and he - which you should never be in a hurry with a restoration - was in no hurry. There was no deadline, only that the result had to be perfect down to the last detail. And we have to say: Coventry completely succeeded in that. At the owner's request, some improvements were made in terms of comfort. For example, beautiful, period-style, hand-crafted seats were installed, which also offer taller drivers much better support and a much better seating position. The XK is also equipped with power steering. The brakes have also been upgraded all round and are fitted with 4-piston calipers at the front. The XK therefore brakes like a modern car. The old Moss gearbox has been replaced by a smoothly shifting 5-speed gearbox, allowing the engine power to be transferred faster and more precisely. Not immediately visible, but certainly noticeable in the perfect warm and cold start is the installation of the electronic ignition. Finally, the alternator provides sufficient power for the automatic cooling ***, among other things.
The car is extensively documented, including all invoices, photos, and a Heritage Certificate, which proves that we are dealing with a car with matching engine numbers.
