EB MOTORS offers for sale a beautiful and well-running Giulietta, first series, year 1977 in 1. 3 version. A true symbol of an era, Giulietta is one of Alfa Romeo’s best-selling, most well-known, fondly remembered and appreciated models, fresh in the memory of those who experienced it in the years and today, unfairly faded from our streets and not yet considered and appreciated as the models that followed or preceded it.
In 1977 it was introduced with a difficult task, that of replacing the beloved Giulia now retired. Mechanically derived from the Alfetta, it was however placed in the lowest segment of the range, thereby avoiding overlap with the other models in the line-up. The choice to equip it with the 1. 3 (later dropped in subsequent series) in conjunction with the 1. 6 engine (the 1. 8 was not available until 1979) stems precisely from this choice. The “little” 1. 3 thus mounts the so-called super-quadrate engine derived from the old twin-cam 1290 cc of the Giulia, enlarged to 1357 cc, it has 95 HP and is brisk enough to move and have fun – even though it wasn’t widely appreciated at the time because, as is known, the average Alfista was always seeking higher performance and a more sporty character.
The example we are offering was registered in 1978 and retains its original TO-S plates.
The bodywork is the classic, very common at the time (and in our view excellently executed) Ivory, the brown fabric interior is original and preserved, functional and without particular signs of wear.
Above all, the interior reveals that the car has stood still for several years but still in a closed and dry environment, the seats are still “full”, the fabric is well stretched and the sun has not faded anything as moisture has not deteriorated the fabrics.
The car is partly still in its first paint and was only partially re-sprayed years ago to tackle some points of the bodywork and proves to be composed; the mechanicals were restarted and completely revised after a few years of idle time.
Since the engine rebuild it has covered about 2000 km.
The specimen therefore presents as functioning and in good condition for its almost 50 years and can be kept in its current condition or used as an excellent base for a targeted restoration aimed at returning a vehicle equal to new and of undeniable historical value and not.
The car is obviously capable of reaching any locality, covering any distance and is perfectly roadworthy and recently serviced, well-tired, reliable and legally tested.
