Los 112
1958 Triumph TR3A Roadster mit Hardtop
Fahrgestell-Nr. TS 28769 LO
Auktionsschätzung €20. 000 - 30. 000
• Desirable manual gearbox with overdrive
• Present family ownership for 15 years
• Restored and regularly serviced
• Driven regularly
Simply constructed, practical to own and offering 100mph-plus performance at a bargain price, the Triumph TR2 was an enormous success both at home and abroad, so it was only to be expected that its successor would represent evolution rather than revolution. Introduced in October 1955, the TR3 was little different from the TR2; changes to the 2. 0-litre engine boosted power from 90 to 95bhp thanks to the use of large SU HS6 carburettors, but the most obvious difference was the 'egg box' radiator grille. By mid-1956 the engine developed 100bhp courtesy of a new cylinder head; then, in August, Girling front disc brakes and a stronger rear axle were standardised. Cosmetically revised but mechanically indistinguishable, the more refined TR3A version was phased in during 1957.
Finished in primrose yellow with black leather interior, the latter in good condition, this left-hand drive TR3A features its original four-speed/ overdrive gearbox, original hardtop, headlight protection grilles, removable windows, luggage rack, and wire-spoked wheels. Owned by the same family for over 15 years, the TR3A has been restored and regularly serviced and has been driven regularly by the owner's daughter in recent times. In good cosmetic condition overall, the car comes with a file of invoices for recent maintenance work, an owner's workshop manual, technical documents, an expired French Contrôle Technique and a French Carte Grise.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams|Cars website for all pertinent auction information.
