Description
1965 Jensen C-V8 Mk II - One of Just 250 Built
Chassis number 104/ 2294, built in April 1965, this is a rare and highly desirable Jensen C-V8 Mk II - one of only 250 examples produced.
Powered by the formidable 383ci (6, 276cc) Chrysler V8, the MkII delivered an impressive 330bhp and 425 lb. ft (576Nm) of torque, paired with the smooth and robust Torqueflite automatic transmission. Performance remains striking even by modern standards, with period figures suggesting 0–60 mph in just 6. 7 seconds and a top speed of over 130 mph.
Famously, a C-V8 owner once remarked to a Rolls-Royce representative aboard a VC10 airliner: “It feels just like my Jensen.”
A remark that captures the car’s blend of power, refinement and effortless cruising ability.
Background
Launched in 1962, the Jensen C-V8 is widely regarded as the last “true” Jensen designed by the Jensen brothers themselves. Combining bold styling with luxury and performance, it offers comfortable seating for four alongside exceptional craftsmanship.
The Mk II, introduced in 1963, brought a number of key upgrades, including revised styling details and the addition of Selectaride adjustable dampers. By 1964, all cars were fitted with the larger and more powerful 383ci V8.
The engineering was equally impressive for its time, featuring:
• Advanced twin-tube chassis designed by Kevin Beattie
• Fibreglass bodywork with aluminium doors
• Independent front suspension with coil springs
• Limited-slip differential on the live rear axle
• Four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes
• Rack and pinion steering
All of which contributed to making the C-V8 one of the fastest and most capable four-seat GT cars of its era.
