Introduced in 1961 the Austin Mini Cooper 997cc was a performance-oriented collaboration between BMC and racing legend John Cooper
It transformed the standard 848cc economy car into a 55bhp, 90mph rally-bred icon, featuring a unique 997cc twin-carb engine, front disc brakes, and close-ratio gearbox. Produced until 1964 before upgrading to 998cc
Manufactured on 08/ 11/ 1962 and exported to Philadelphia, USA just four days later. Originally LHD and finished in Old English White with a black roof and tartan red interior
Repatriated to the UK in in 2018 by a Mini enthusiast and subject to an extensive restoration, whilst retaining the original floors, sills, front/ rear sub-frames and stainless steel seam covers
Converted to RHD and the engine and gearbox sent to specialists Somerford Mini for a full rebuild back to original 997 spec, with a new wiring loom and a new Newton Commercial interior in authentic Tartan Red and Gold Brocade design
Subsequently sold through ourselves in 2019 and purchased by our vendor who has enjoyed the car since, with occasional, sparing use as part of his extensive collection
Recently converted to electronic ignition with the carbs cleaned and stripped and we understand that it's running very well as a result
Supplied with a current V5C (correctly classed as Historic), a Heritage Certificate and various other items of paperwork
