Bimota sports bikes have always been special, and this YB8 Evo is no exception. Sold in the UK in 1996, this YB8 Evo is one of the last variations of the YB8 model, which was a close development of the World Superbike winning YB4 of the late 1980s. Powered by the Yamaha 1000cc Exup motor, this machine is good for over 165 mph.
This machine was purchased by its first owner from a dealership in Stoke on Trent in May 1997 and has led a sheltered life ever since, mainly in the NW and latterly in the East Midlands. It has only ever been careful maintained by its various owners over the years and has never been apart, except for very high-quality lower fairing re-paint in 2022. All components are top line for the period; Ohlins rear shock, Paoli front forks and carbon hugger and mudguard. It also still has its original tool kit with the invaluable eccentric change adjusting tool. The bike underwent a full dyno set-up and total carburettor overhaul by renowned UK specialist, BSD of Peterborough in 2024. The dyno report, showing 128 bhp at the back wheel (circa 145bhp at the crank), is included in the documentation.
Since 2005, the bike has only done 6000 miles. Documentation is comprehensive, along with model information, owner reports and photographs, invoices for work done and MoTs, plus the dyno report, as detailed above.
With so few YB8 Evos made (169), and even fewer in this colour scheme (24), this is an opportunity to obtain a very special motorcycle that is ready to go.
