Exterior / Body:
The car presented here is a January 1959 XK150 S Coupé in the original “Silver Metallic” paint.
The bodywork was restored a few years ago and remains in excellent presentation today.
The paint finish is uniform with excellent shine.
After a professional polish performed with the orbit sander by our workshop, we noted a small paint defect around the grille contour and a tiny paint chip on the driver’s door edge.
The chrome bumpers and rubbers are perfectly aligned and in excellent condition.
The grille, lenses and lights are also in good condition, as are the front wing mirrors in chrome.
This example is fitted with LUCAS fog lamps, both fully functional.
The 4 chrome-wire wheels in 16’’ and their chrome knock-offs are in excellent condition.
The 4 VREDESTEIN tyres show less than 10% wear at both ends.
This example retains its chrome spoke spare wheel and jack.
Among the exterior features and options for this car, we note: the interior storage cover and Lucas fog lamps.
Interior:
The leather upholstery in “Red Cartier” with matching piping is in excellent condition.
We noted a few small marks on the left rear pillar.
The leather dashboard in “Red Cartier” and “Grey” is in perfect condition.
The cap and the matching quarter panels have no defects.
The grey fabric headlining is in good condition.
All SMITHS cockpit instruments are fully functional.
The original clock is no longer functional.
The wood three-spoke steering wheel and the original bakélite gear knob show a uniform patina of use.
All carpets in “Red Cartier” colour matching the upholstery are in excellent condition.
Of the interesting interior features, we note: the leather upholstery and central armrest in “Red Cartier” as well as the wood three-spoke steering wheel by JAGUAR.
Chassis:
Lifting the car confirms a healthy shell and chassis, with no visible accident damage or structural corrosion.
The basics: ladder frame chassis, floor pans, side members, sills and wheel arches are in excellent condition.
Usage reserve: as a rule we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their good visual and functional state confirmed on road test and under the lift.
During the dynamic test, we detected no abnormal rattles from the body or running gear (ball joints, bushings, etc.).
Braking is balanced, stable and with good bite, with no vibrations or unusual noises.
Brake discs and pads show less than 20% wear at both front and rear.
The pre-delivery technical inspection by our workshop will confirm the overall function at delivery.
Engine / Transmission:
Original mechanicals operate perfectly.
The Production Record Trace Certificate (JAGUAR heritage) confirms this example is ‘Matching numbers’ for chassis and engine.
Road test and compression checks by our workshop confirm a healthy six-cylinder.
Starting is immediate, with no smoke or suspicious noises.
Idle is steady and the engine does not overheat.
Oil pressure when cold measured by our workshop is 40 psi at 600 rpm.
Once warm, the engine reaches its power smoothly, with no hiccups or overheating.
The six-cylinder sound is accentuated by two stainless steel exhaust silencers.
Reliability is reinforced by an additional electric cooling fan.
The four-speed gearbox works well and engages gears firmly.
In fast driving or when downchanging the original first-gear synchroniser grinds slightly.
The overdrive providing the final-drive overrule works perfectly.
Clutch bite is good.
This example is fitted with a battery cut-off switch.
As is typical for this model, engine/ gearbox/ bay sealing remains average.
