The example presented here is a Golf Cabriolet Mk1 GLI from June 1985 in its original colour “Alpine White L90E” (matching colours).
The paint is in very good condition, showing a uniform tone and excellent gloss.
After a professional polish performed with the orbitable polisher by our workshop, we noted a small dent on the front left wing and on the rear right wing as well as on the tailgate. The bumper trims are perfectly aligned and in excellent condition, with no signs of deformation or cracks.
The roof in white leatherette is in excellent condition.
It functions perfectly and its seal remains compliant with the standards of the time.
The rear window is in good condition.
This example retains its roof cover in colour “Weiss” in excellent condition.
The four original 14’’ alloy wheels in colour “Weiss” are in very good condition, with no dents or distortions.
We noted a few minor scratches and rubbing marks on the outer offsets.
This example is equipped with a wind deflector, which significantly enhances comfort with the roof down.
The tyres are Hankook with 10% wear on the front and 10% wear on the rear.
This exemplar retains its jack, crank handle and spare wheel.

The dashboard is in excellent condition with no cracks or discolouration.
All of the instruments and the clock are fully functional.
The original four-spoke steering wheel and the gear lever knob are in good condition.
The carpets in colour “Schwarz” are in perfect condition.
The entire interior is protected by custom floor mats in “Schwarz” with piping in “Weiss”.

Lift-on inspection confirms a healthy shell with no visible structural corrosion.
The basics: floors, rocker panels, sills and wheel arches are in excellent condition.
Service window: as a rule we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their good visual and functional condition, validated by our workshop during the road test and lift.
During the dynamic test, we did not record any abnormal noises from the body or running gear (ball joints, bushings, etc.).
The handling is improved by the installation of 4 Bilstein shock absorbers.
Braking is balanced, stable and bitey, with no vibrations or unusual noises.
Front discs show less than 20% wear and their pads less than 20% wear.
Rear drums are fully functional and free from seepage.
A pre-delivery technical inspection will confirm full operation of the system.
Engine / Transmission:
The original service book and available invoices attest to regular servicing at a Volkswagen specialist centre.
The mechanicals operate perfectly.
Compression tests and a road test performed by our workshop confirm a healthy engine.
The four-cylinder starts immediately, with no smoke or suspicious noises and idle is stable, as confirmed by the 360° video with the engine running available at the start of the slideshow.
At speed, the engine revs smoothly without hiccups or overheating.
The five gears of the manual box shift in and out easily, especially the synchromesh.
Clutch bite is good.
As with older engines, the engine/ gearbox/ axle seals are only average.
