Revered as one of the last hand-built Mercedes-Benz models, limited production ensured exclusivity from the outset as just 1, 232 examples were produced, including only 347 built during the final year of production.
Finished in its factory shade of Silver over Black leather upholstery, this final-year example benefits from a comprehensive, no-expense-spared restoration by the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Fellbach, Germany. The cabin was beautifully retrimmed in supple leather, as originally used in 1971. Upon leaving the restoration workshop, the 280 SE was purchased by the consigning owner from Rosier Classic Sterne, the authorised Mercedes-Benz Classic Partner based in north-west Germany, in April 2022. Since then, according to the odometer reading taken at the time of cataloguing, the car has been driven just 1, 545 kilometres. The cabriolet is further accompanied by a copy of its factory data card, restoration records, tool roll, and owner’s manuals.
