Description
Matching Numbers • Euro Spec • Full History • Original Condition There are classics – and then there are icons. This 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo (930) belongs to the latter category. A car that not only represents an era but also carries its history with pride and authenticity. With Matching Numbers, original Euro specifications, and a documented journey through time and continents, this 911 Turbo today stands as a rare and highly desirable collector’s piece – in a condition that can be both enjoyed on the open road and admired in the garage.
The car was produced in October 1979 as a 1980 model and sold directly from the factory to a German customer. Shortly after, it was exported to Texas, USA, where it became part of a collection and covered only a few hundred miles during its first ten years. To be registered in the United States, it was converted to U. S. specifications – including the characteristic large bumpers and BBS wheels. However, all original European parts were carefully stored and still accompany the car. In 2001, the car was imported to Denmark by a Danish serviceman stationed in Texas. It was inspected, taxed, and registered – still in U. S.-spec trim – and later converted to a 964-look with Cup wheels. In 2009, the current owner acquired the car with only 51, 000 km on the odometer and all original parts intact. In 2015, the decision was made: the car would be restored to its original form. At Porsche Copenhagen, the car was meticulously converted back to its authentic 1979 appearance, complete with original Fuchs wheels in the correct size and finish – sourced in Baden-Baden and installed with great attention to detail. The result is a car that today appears exactly as it did when it left the factory. Between 2019 and 2020, the car underwent a comprehensive restoration at Porsche Centrum: the engine and gearbox were overhauled, rust was repaired, the paint refreshed, and the interior received new original Porsche leather on the front seats and rear parcel shelf. A GPS alarm was installed, and the car received a new windshield as well as a completed 111-point inspection and Certificate of Authenticity at Porsche Copenhagen. Everything is documented with invoices – this phase alone amounts to approximately DKK 200, 000. The car has been continuously serviced with new brake discs, spark plugs, wiper arms, gas struts, battery, and much more. It has been fitted with a new K27 Sport turbocharger and Tial wastegate, and every spring the oil, filters, and brake fluid have been changed. It has always been stored indoors and driven with care – primarily for Porsche Club events and summer drives.
