Description
An early chassis number, being a launch year car. There was a long waiting
list when these first appeared and relatively few were delivered initially
to keep up demand. This was bought by a hotelier in the west country who had
owned a succession of Jaguars, and he transferred official ownership to his
son when it was about 3 years old (he was always the main driver). In 2004, the car was registered SORN though started and driven occasionally around grounds and the private road where the family lived. At all other times it was dry garaged. Components and electrics were kept moving as the local garage recommended and it readily started and drove. Upon purchase from the owner directly in March 2025, the XJS was transported to an ex- main agent Jaguar trained specialist for an initial programme of renewing bushes, thorough servicing etc, ready for road testing last year, covering about 200 miles so any outstanding issues could be identified. Following more work the car has been tested over another 300 miles. About £12, 000 has been invested on renewal including extensive renewal of bushes, major servicing, new tyres, air conditioning overhaul, electrics etc. The condition of bodywork and interior is superb overall, not only due to mileage, but due to the passage of time the car was asleep, and as it is still registered to the first family, so the provenance could not be better. The colour scheme in Dark Racing Green with Doeskin Hide is timeless on a classic Jaguar sports car. There have been no modifications, upgrades, or addons to detract from the originality. Some lovely original paperwork is present with the vehicle
and a letter from the family confirming the history, originality, and
mileage which is 15, 000 from new. All bill copies of the refurbishment works will be included with the history.
