Description
1985 PORSCHE 924A refined example of Porsche’s pioneering front-engined era, this 1985 Porsche 924 represents the final evolution of one of the marque’s most transitional models. Combining balanced engineering with unmistakable 1980s styling, the 924 offers an engaging driving experience in a practical and increasingly collectible package. Finished in period-correct styling, the car displays the 924’s signature wedge-shaped silhouette, complemented by its pop-up headlamps and expansive glass rear hatch. The design remains both aerodynamic and timeless, embodying Porsche’s functional approach to sports car aesthetics. Under the bonnet lies a 2. 0-litre inline four-cylinder engine, delivering smooth and reliable performance through a 5-speed manual transmission. The car’s front-engine, rear transaxle configuration provides near-perfect weight distribution, resulting in poised handling and excellent road manners. Light steering, responsive chassis dynamics, and a low kerb weight make the 924 particularly enjoyable on twisting roads. The interior reflects classic Porsche ergonomics, featuring clear analogue instrumentation, a driver-focused layout, and comfortable 2+2 seating. The rear hatch design adds a level of practicality uncommon in sports cars of the era, offering generous luggage space. By 1985, the 924 had matured into a well-developed and dependable model, benefitting from years of refinement. Today, it stands as an accessible entry into classic Porsche ownership, appreciated for its purity, usability, and historical significance as the brand’s first water-cooled production car. A true modern classic, the 1985 Porsche 924 appeals to enthusiasts seeking authentic driving character, distinctive design, and an important piece of Porsche heritage. This 5-speed manual example is complete but in need of some recommissioning. Starting and driving, it has only covered 10000 miles in the past 20 years with the odometer currently showing 17311 miles. The last MOT expired in 2020 with the vehicle being subsequently dry stored. However there is some rust apparent underneath as per photos, to be expected on a 41 year old car. With less than 500 examples thought to be left in the UK- this vehicle represents a highly rare oppurtunity to aquire a complete Porsche 924 that may not require too much work to get back in to daily use.. This vehicle is located near Rugby, Warwickshire from where it will need to be collected. Motorscan report and videos available on request.
