The fastest saloon of the 1960s. In the early 1960s, Giulio Alfieri began work on a completely new project. Drawing inspiration from the success of his GranTurismo cars, Maserati started thinking about a saloon.
Naturally, the new Quattroporte had to offer the same level of elegance, refinement, power and performance as the other Trident models. *** a top speed of 230 km/ h made it the fastest saloon of the time. The design was the work of stylist Pietro Frua, who took inspiration from the 5000GT, while the bodies were built by Vignale. The car featured a modern metal monocoque structure *** with boxed sheet-metal sections instead of the traditional tubular frame, and the 4. 2-litre V8 engine came from the unit used on the 5000GT. Among the most famous Quattroporte clients we can count actors who made cinema history, directors, and screenwriters.
