Description
Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Roadster, built in December 1969, and presented as a matching numbers example. Restored and upgraded with more modern components in all the right areas.
Finished in Opalescent Gunmetal Grey with French Blue leather interior, complemented by chrome wire wheels. Originally delivered by Jaguar to BL Cars in New York, the vehicle was brought back to the UK in 2013 by a marque specialist. It then underwent a comprehensive, ground-up restoration to the owner’s exact specifications, completed in 2016.
The specification includes electronic fuel injection and ignition, a six-branch stainless steel exhaust system, Vicarage power-assisted steering, a five-speed manual gearbox, and Gaz adjustable suspension with poly bushes and competition chrome wire wheels. These carefully selected upgrades enhance usability while maintaining a driver focus, making this E-Type perfectly suited for regular use and touring if so desired.
During the restoration, the car was stripped back to a bare shell, with all components either refurbished or replaced as required. The engine was fully rebuilt and upgraded with electronic fuel injection. The original four-speed gearbox was replaced with a new five-speed E-Fab unit, while the rear axle and entire suspension system were also rebuilt, including the installation of new Gaz adjustable shock absorbers.
The interior received a full retrim along with a new hood, and all chrome work was either renewed or re-plated. The wiring and electrical systems were completely replaced. Accompanying the car is an extensive history file, including a detailed build sheet, invoices, and photographic documentation. The total cost of the restoration was in excess of £100, 000.
Since completion, the car has seen minimal use, covering just 800 miles, and has largely been kept in storage. It has recently been serviced by marque specialists Hilton & Moss, including a full fluid change—engine, gearbox, rear axle, coolant, and brake fluids—as well as a radiator repair.
Part exchange considered.
