Description
This 1942 Dodge D-22 business coupe is in original condition. The 230. 2 CID engine runs very well. The transmission is a 3-speed gearbox with steering-column shift. The vehicle was purchased from the Chuck Schneider collection, which he had acquired from a Chrysler dealership where it was displayed in the showroom window. The Dodge has undergone a relatively recent chassis restoration and retains an impressive standard of workmanship and paint. The car has low mileage since a complete brake overhaul, including the cooled master cylinder, brake shoes and wheel cylinders. I fitted an electric fuel pump a few years ago to feed the carburettor before starting if the vehicle has been left idle for more than a week. This is a war-time vehicle and it’s very rare to find one in this sort of condition outside of a museum. The Dodge starts every time and the fluid drive transmission works perfectly. You can stop at the lights in third gear, put your foot on the *******. The vehicle stays idling, then you simply press the accelerator to pull away again. However, the vehicle does have a few minor faults: the windscreen wiper motor needs repair. The front suspension is good, but some of the rubber boots are starting to age. An interesting feature of the vehicle: the original leather spring protectors are still fitted on the rear leaf springs! This was done in the past to keep grease between the plates. They have been sealed and protected ever since. The rest of the restoration quality can be appreciated from the photos.
