The ZRX1200R is powered by Kawasaki’s superb 1, 164cc liquid-cooled, 16-valve inline-four, producing around 120–123 bhp. It combines strong performance with the muscular, old-school feel that has made these bikes increasingly sought after.
A Modern Kawasaki Classic
The ZRX story began with the ZRX1100 in 1997, before Kawasaki enlarged the engine to 1, 164cc and introduced the ZRX1200 generation for 2001. Its styling deliberately recalls Kawasaki's famous early-1980s AMA Superbikes associated with Eddie Lawson, particularly in the iconic green colour scheme with its small nose fairing, square headlamp, twin rear shocks and muscular stance.
Today the ZRX1200R is increasingly regarded as a genuine modern classic. Its combination of carburetted big-bore four-cylinder power, analogue styling and traditional steel-frame construction gives it a character very different from today's electronically controlled motorcycles. Good, original and low-mileage examples are becoming particularly desirable.
