The BMW 2002 Baur is one of the most interesting and, today, most sought-after variants of the legendary BMW 02 series, which laid the foundations for the Munich-based carmaker’s range of sporty compact cars. The coachbuilder Baur, a long-standing partner of BMW, offered a special open-top version of the 2002 model, combining the driving experience of a convertible with greater body rigidity. It is precisely because of the limited number of units produced and its specific design that BMW 2002 Baur cars are now highly prized collector’s items. The 2002 model was produced between 1968 and 1975 and became one of the most important cars in the history of the BMW brand. Under the bonnet, it featured the tried-and-tested M10 series four-cylinder engine, renowned for its robustness, reliability and sporty character. Thanks to its low weight, rear-wheel drive and precise chassis, the car offered handling characteristics that were ahead of their time and still manage to thrill motoring enthusiasts today.
