Almost immediately after selling our last 2002 we came across this gem
Presented in her original specification Inca Orange she has been completely rebuilt and restored resulting in a totally immaculate example
Spend only a few moments with MME and you will quickly discover just how 'new' she feels
Rubber seals that are all brand new, paint that has not seen anything but sun and the inside of her cosy garage since its application, brightwork that pops, engine bay surgically clean, interior near perfect etc
When a car is so well put together and so well presented you are allowed to then appreciate some of the lesser obvious, but perhaps even more endearing, features. Like the air filter cover on this car still being the original with the BMW logo stamped into the top
Or the beautifully well situated aerial, the rubber bungs for which are black as the ace of spades and lined up in a perfect line up the 'A' pillar making for a beautiful packaging solution to an otherwise mundane feature
Happily she is not just statically impressive, her overhaul was a mechanical one too and she has since covered only 3000 miles
There are records of the restoration as well as photographs, detailing the entire rebuild from engine to suspension
Even from cold she starts on the button and once fully up to temp she really does zip along very nicely
Holding the road with no creaks or squeaks from the body or suspension and a lovely little rasp from the new exhaust
These 'roundie' 2002's are such pretty little car but do not be fooled they are still a very respectable sports cars too with 100hp propelling less that a ton quite readily
I was pleasantly surprised by her performance when compared to a fuel injected car and found that her engine, clicky little gearbox, unassisted steering and lightweight construction all came together wonderfully to create a very pure driving experience
