A more comfort-biased foil to its Turbo R sibling, the Bentley Brooklands was introduced at the October 1992 Birmingham International Motor Show. Powered by a normally aspirated version of Crewe’s stalwart 6750cc V8 engine allied to four-speed automatic transmission, all but the earliest versions of the luxury saloon were capable of over 130mph. Continually refined and updated during its half decade production run, the Brooklands underwent its biggest facelift for the 1996 model year gaining a two-inch lower radiator, wraparound / colour-coded bumpers (the front one sporting an air dam), revised door mirrors, deleted front quarterlights and new 16-inch alloy wheels shod with lower profile tyres (the latter alteration resulting in sharper handling / roadholding). The beautifully trimmed interior boasted a new dashboard and centre console plus a more commodious cubby between the front seats, while those in the rear had individually controlled air conditioning vents. The spare wheel was relocated and the engine tweaked for more power and so that it would work with on-board diagnostics (OBD). It is understood that just 194 right-hand drive cars were completed during the 1996 model year.
A 1996 model-year Brooklands (the first of which was reportedly chassis 57006), this particular example is finished in the stunning combination of Georgian Silver with Oxblood leather upholstery. Previously supplied by marque specialist Balmoral and carrying a Bentley Drivers’ Club sticker to the front windscreen, it has self-evidently led something of a charmed life. The luxury saloon’s odometer shows some 87, 000 miles with a mere 400 of these said to have been covered since its most recent service (May 2025), while total expenditure over the last 1, 000 miles reportedly amounts to circa £5, 000. The online MOT history makes for reassuring reading and the Bentley is deemed to ‘present well and drive spot on’. Still an imposing motorcar, this handsome Brooklands is offered for sale with V5C Registration Document, history file and MOT certificate valid until April 2027.
