First-generation Firebird
This 1968 Pontiac Firebird 350 V8 Convertible is in excellent condition. Originally from California, it has been in the Netherlands since 1997. A history file is available. It underwent a professional, complete restoration in the Netherlands in 2010. The bodywork was media-blasted; sheet metal parts were replaced where necessary and seamlessly welded in using hard-soldering techniques. Subsequently, the entire body was treated with epoxy primer and finished in metallic blue with a clear coat. The result is a beautiful, straight body and high-quality paintwork. The original 350 cu. in. V8 engine was fully rebuilt: cylinders honed; new pistons and connecting rod bearings; new oil seals and gasket set; new water pump; cylinder heads rebuilt with new valves and seats (compatible with unleaded fuel and LPG); new camshaft, timing gears, and chain; new oil pump; new Weiand intake manifold and Edelbrock 450cfm 4-barrel carburetor; new starter motor and alternator; and new radiator and heater core. The automatic transmission was also fully rebuilt, including the torque converter, and fitted with a Kevlar clutch pack. The steering and suspension systems were overhauled with new ball joints, etc.; suspension components were media-blasted and powder-coated. The braking system was rebuilt, featuring front disc brakes. New shock absorbers all around, along with new front coil springs and rear leaf springs. The engine is equipped with Hedman headers connected to a stainless steel exhaust system (EPS). New fuel tank. Equipped with an Impco LPG system, neatly installed with the filler located behind the license plate. It features original bucket seats that have been re-stuffed, a new convertible top, and a new tonneau cover. The carpeting has been replaced, and a modern radio with a ‘classic look’ has been installed in the original location. It is equipped with power windows. The chrome and trim are in excellent condition, and all rubber seals have been replaced. In short: a comprehensive restoration where no expense was spared. Options include power brakes, power steering, and 15-inch Rally II wheels with BF Goodrich tires. A stunning example of the first-generation Firebird!
