our very well loved and well used work horse has to go. We bought this over a year ago and it has done us so well- amazing what can be fit in the back- ideal for our mountain bike trips etc. The fella we had bought it from had owned it since it was 3 years old. He was sad to see it go but was getting too old and wanted something easier to drive.
We had some welding done before the last mot- mainly some small holes at end of one sill, plus some holes in one arch where the underseal had been chipped off.
The engine starts and runs fine- it has the spin on oil filter adapter fitted so no waiting for pressure to build up. Quiet running and very smooth! Has done 110mph on a private road- easily. cheaper to run than mags suggest- we are getting 30 mpg on long trips- sitting at 60 mph loaded up.
interior is tidy and all there but drivers seat base is ripped- cloth worn thin. dash top is excellent - I have owned two triumph saloons back in NZ and never have I seen a crack free dash top before... Harsh NZ sun..? The woodcappings on doors need revarnishing but the veneer is fine.
Exterior is in fine condition- not a show winner but no rust showing - car is solid but has some frilly edges on rear arches- you have to feel them to notice it though. There is a hole under the fuel tank.
The last owner had fully and religously waxoiled the car all over.. its very messy under the bonnet and arches- anywhere there is a seam infact! But this would explain lack of welding being needed in cars lifetime. Waxoil works!
We have to sell this car as we are downsizing our fleet of classics to make room for a camper van and my rusty mazda rx3....
It will be missed and ~ I'm sure i'll have another triumph in the future- my 1st car was one of these and i think they are a very much underated car!!!
Please phone alex the details below if interested... I dont always get on to the internet. cheers
