Description
For sale is my 1984 Sunburst Red XR3i
I purchased this car just over two years ago at a cost well in excess of my asking price.
She has had only ONE PREVIOUS OWNER, a retired aircraft engineer.
The mileage is just over 40k.
The car was serviced at the same garage from 1990 to 2005 during which she covered a mere 18k miles.
There is no visible rust on the exterior bodywork but there are a series of small blisters at the bottom of each door and one on a front wing. The battery tray is original and is fine. The wheel arches are perfect.
The floor is solid as is the boot area.
The interior is near perfect and the dashboard is like new (not cracked). Try and find another without a cracked dash.
The original radio cassette player is fitted. I have no idea if she plays tapes but the radio works.
She is taxed for another two or three months and has passed her last two MOT's with no advisories.
I have the original (& very rare) white wheel trims with four perfect tyres. I also have the original sales invoice and handbooks.
Reason for selling and decent price(!!);
I bought her to reduce the fuel cost of my other car, however, I screwed up-she is too good to use, hence why she has done less than 1k in two years. I simply rarely drive her.
I have also had a recurring issue. She is prone to failing to start again after a long drive. I was advised to get the distributor refurbed which I did at considerable cost.
This has not cured the issue.
My mechanics next best guess is a coil;)
She will start fine and there is no smoke so there is very little wrong with her.
She is therefore being sold as a non runner, hence the fair price.
This car is for an enthusiast and someone who has more patience and mechanical knowledge than myself.
Once properly sorted you will be the proud owner of one of the finest MK3 Escort XR3I's left in the UK.
Sorry, I won't accept offers.
1/ 9. I'll keep this advert on for another week or so and if there is no interest i'll fix her and keep.
Thanks for reading
