I was lucky enough to find this Wolseley 1500 with the body work refurbished, rust removed and new panels installed; saving me all that hard work and some sole destroying times. Disappointingly a short time later ill health means I will never be able to finish this.
So ill health brings this car for sale. It came to me in this condition. One cannot fail to be impressed by the finish of the walnut dashboard fascia, door fillets, and general trim and leather upholstery. New these where not a cheap car, but parts are no problem as most Morris minor [same chassis brakes and steering)and other BMC mechanical parts fit. To me it’s a sensible choice of car from this era as it will keep up with modern traffic speed with its 1489cc, engine far better than a smaller engine Morris minor, admittedly the minor is more popular although I cannot understand why, these Wolseley’s and Riley’s 1500 were and are better built and are of a higher class. It’s not too big and it’s not too small. They where the luxury marks of BMC Morris and Austin. British class from a bygone era.
The body has been welded on a rotary 360 degree jig. New parts fitted and or supplied are:- 5 new tyres, new stainless steel exhaust system not fitted, wiring loom partly fitted, brake pipes, cylinders and shoes, spin on filter and adapter, thermostat and housing, plugs, points and condenser, top and bottom hose, leads, screen rubber, petrol pipe, new cills, new front. The leather seats are far better than I have seen on other 1500, and I believe the washer bottle in glass is a sought after item. The engine is from the sister car a Riley 1500 and has twin carburetors. An amount of original colour green and gray paint is included. My dream color was to be maroon with a cream strip and wheels. Note; a collecable original leather radiator cold weather cover will be included. The number plate is valuable and is transferable. I understand the new parts alone are worth over 1, 000. 00 pounds. The hard work has been done and it can now be finished to show condition or “whatever”. This is a great opportunity. The thick sheet metal bodywork will last for many decades to come.
The carburetors and pipes are in place and need finish fitting and the engine has not been run as electrics and carbs need finishing but the engine has new oil and turns over by hand. Needed:- a clutch slave cylinder, bonnet chrome strip and clutch master cylinder plastic filler cap’ carpets, small seat bracket to floor. Driver’s side rear window is silicone into place but all pieces seem to be there, but if needed, pieces are easily obtained. To my knowledge nothing else is missing but it’s your responsibility to check before placing a bid. Some parts have been placed in position for photograph. The car needs finishing and preparing for paint. A nice buy, completely solid with all the new parts you'll require. Don't waste your money on one needing welding and new parts, not to mention the hard work, expense and effort to bring to this stage; study this add;its already done. Also this vehicle is road tax and MOT exempt so no hassle there either.
P. S. New oils engine oil. Excellent leather seats. Some colour brochures and hand book when and if I can find them. I am willing to arrange for the vehicle to be transported at buyers cost at mates good rate if distance is reasonable.
