The history on the car so far.............. from 1984 some 30 years ago!!!!!
Most of the car’s history has been validated by the Ford dealer, Stratton Motor Company (Norfolk) Limited, by royal working staff and by Granada enthusiasts.
This car is one of six made for Royal duties in the mid 80’s. There were four in dark green (as is this car) and two in dark blue. One of the dark blue cars has been written off and currently the whereabouts of the other four cars is unknown!!!!!
We are led to believe the car was commissioned by the Royal Family from Ford and was sent to Aston Martin (Tickford) to be painted in Aston Martin Balmoral Green (hence all the Aston Martin emblems)and trimmed at their trimming shop in dark green Italian leather with red piping. As can be seen the leather work is of an exceptional standard with tailor made floor mats have sheepskin inlay, a special request by the Queen for her Corgis!!!!The green Wilton carpet is in perfect condition and bound with red piping throughout the car.
The car was used daily in Sandringham at one of its two horse studs. The car originally had a private registration number and was registered to a private estate company used by the Royal family. The car was maintained and serviced by Stratton Motor Co. The dealer confirms some of the cars history but only up to a point due to customer confidentiality.
Approximately seven years ago (1991) the car was taken out of service and spent the next six years (1997) at the Ford dealer in storage.
The car then came into private ownership in the UK and was purchased by its present owner nine years ago (2006). The car has never been fully restored or welded but has had some body and paintwork done to keep it looking good as it deserves to be as it is such a unique car. It has covered to date 83k miles and has been extremely well maintained with many new mechanical components fitted. The engine and automatic gearbox has been recently serviced. All the interior components are as per its original specification including a fabulous period Alpine (removable) stereo system with six huge speakers complete with floor mounted equaliser balancer system!!!! The car originally came with green TRX wheels with polished outer rims, these are available with the car and in very serviceable condition.
The car is located in Dublin just 10 minutes from Dublin Airport and 15 minutes from Dublin Port.
