saab 900 turbo 8v apc flatfront
1983 may registered saab 900 8v turbo apc 5 speed gearbox. 156, 000 miles restoration project.
I bought this car may 2013, along with many saab restorations i am involved in. In it's history the gearbox has been rebuilt and a new turbo fitted, there is a folder full of bills from the previous owner, whom had owned the car 25 years.
The saab starts first time, and moves under its own power, but will need trailering away, as no tax, mot or insurance. I renewed the nearside front caliper also.
A very rare example now in factory black, it comes with the early dash mounted electric window switches.
The car has undergone extensive restorative welding, and new metalwork on the offside rear quarter, and rear sill which had been an 'mot' issue. This is now all complete and in primer.
The nearside rear requires the same amount of repair, on the inner wing/ suspension area, and small amounts of other attention.
The bodywork itself is in good order, with no external holes , altough the inner door bottom's are corroded. I have 2 replacement doors in black, to fit.
There is a brand new genuine saab nearside front headlamp reflector in the box, to replace the aged one, and a new indicator unit also.
I have also an 8 valve turbo engine, from an 1988 900 turbo in excellent condition which i was going to fit, as the earlier engines do have oil pump starvation issues, and it smokes a little.
I have owned, raced and rallied saabs since 1988, so know them inside out, this is a good project saab requring restoration.
This sale is only due to a change in circumstances, otherwise i would be carrying on with the restoration.
