My Marcos Mantula is one of only 170 coupes built by Marcos , This car was ordered from Marcos in 1985 and was completed and registered in 1989 , I have a copy of the original order and all subsequent orders for extra parts these were supplied by Marcos Heritage , the car comes with 12 months MOT and has only covered 25, 250 miles .
ENGINE
This is a reconditioned gold seal 3500cc SDI Rover engine fitted when the car was built , running twin SU carburettors the car is very reliable and starts first turn of the key , It has been fitted with new water pump , reconditioned radiator and most of the jubilee clips on the cooling system , new ignition leads with chrome separators fitted ,
It has polished alloy rocker covers , polished SU carbs with new air induction hoses and filters.
GEARBOX / TRANSMISION
The gearbox is a standard Rover 5 speed unit , The back axle is from a 2. 8 injection Ford Capri.
CHASSIS
The square section space framed chassis is in very good order , the previous owner had rubbed down the chassis and painted it , I have recoated it with Rustbusters 2 pack chassis paint and Waxoiled inside the box section and fitted new chassis bungs .
When the car passed its MOT with no advisories the Inspector said the chassis was in good condition .
BODYWORK
This is in good order with no stars or cracks in the fibreglass , according to the build records the colour is Jaguar Regent metallic grey , I think it is closer to Audi / VW Titanium metallic grey , there are a few marks , chips and blemishes on the paintwork which you can expect on a car of this year , It is fitted with the Marcos boot spoiler , new chrome petrol filler cap , new wiper blades , arms and washer bottle , stainless steel side indicators and a new bolt on bonnet badge.
BRAKES
The previous owner fitted new Brake and Clutch master cylinders with braided hoses , The Discs , Drums and pads are all in good order.
INTERIOR
Wallnut burr dashboard and a full leather interior in "biscuit" colour hide , this has been fully reconditioned with new leather centre tunnel , seat sides , gear lever and hand brake gators , new seat belts with short stalks , a new carpet set supplied by Marcos also fitted are Marcos over mats , I have fitted a Springalex alloy/ wooden steering wheel with alloy boss , I have the original leather Moto Lita steering wheel if you prefer that fitting , a new stereo system and ariel has been fitted , 2 new bonnet release cables and new choke cable fitted.
WHEELS
14" 5 Spoke Revolution alloy wheels , fully reconditioned with black powder coated spokes and polished outer rims , new chrome wheel nuts with chrome and alloy centre caps and Marcos badges , The tyres are Falkens and are as new.
