For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 2a in Deep Bronze Green (1971)
MOT until 21st February 2018. Tax exempt.
Petrol 2286cc. Galvanised Chassis, Range Rover Diffs, Free Wheeling Hubs.
Here we have for sale a reasonably rare Series 2a "crossover", manufactured only between 1969 and 1972 - giving the hard dash, whilst appearing more like a Series 3 at the front end. This one retains the shallow "razor" bonnet and correct grill, just as it should look.
This vehicle has been rebuilt in the past, and now benefits from having a galvanised chassis, thus making it more capable of lasting for a very long time! The petrol engine has a Weber carb and is mated to uprated Range Rover DIffs, giving longer gearing ratios for much more relaxed cruising and longer, in gear, acceleration. A new set of 750 tyres both give a bold stance, and further lengthen ratios - the combined effect really does make a huge difference to the driving enjoyment.
On the inside, this hard top sports a full compliment of seven seats, and is neatly presented with deluxe matting throughout. Externally, the whole vehicle is very pleasingly presented with a smooth paint finish. There are front spots (working) for night driving and a rear working spot for loading in the winter or reversing. There is also a host of "nice to see parts" - mud flaps, lamp guards, a towbar with electrics (so ready to tow if required), and period free wheeling hubs to assist further with fuel economy.
In summary, this is a smart, galvanised chassis, tax exempt 2a, ideal as a long term keeper for a family desiring period fun and transportation. We think it represents great value for money, and with no road tax required, great spec, cheap insurance (£150 or so) and capital appreciation, it should be a sound addition to any family fleet.
