This beautiful example of a ‘50s Jaguar XK140 FHC is a dimensionally exact replica designed and manufactured by Autotune in Lancashire. With many years in the business Autotune have a strong reputation of building high quality Jaguar replicas and race cars. The Aristocat portfolio includes the roadster and the FHC. Being a dimensionally exact model, the FHC build is more expensive than its roadster counterpart, due to the extra work not only in the shortened drive train components, but the superb detailed GRP bodyshell and extra chassis strengthening.
The chassis and bodyshell were manufactured by Autotune in 1998 and the build took a further 10 years to complete.
The Aristocat FHC 140 uses all Jaguar parts which presents a feel of originality, from the luxury red leather interior through to the exhaust note of the straight six 2. 4L engine.
Engine: 1965 Jaguar MK2 2483cc in-line six twin carb engine connected to a 4-speed Moss manual gearbox with overdrive on fourth gear and stainless steel exhaust.
Interior: Original Jaguar seats, dashboard, switch gear and Smiths gauges. Period radio, Moto-Lita wood rimmed steering wheel and twin switchable fuel tanks.
Suspension: Adjustable coil-over shock absorbers and mounted on XJ6 wishbones. Double shock absorber configuration to each rear wheel.
Brakes: Jaguar XJ6 discs around.
Wheels: Original 15-inch Jaguar steel wheels and hubcaps.
Brightwork: Mostly original Jaguar XK140 chrome, which includes; bumpers, overriders, headlights, body mouldings, rear deck lid mouldings, number plate light and door handles. Front grille is an original XK120, which I feel looks better than the XK140 grille.
The vehicle is accompanied by a comprehensive amount of history, information and build / owner’s manual. Period registration is also included.
MOT and service (oil & filter) were carried out in July 2017. No advisories on MOT.
This vehicle offers XK140 motoring with enhanced safety features and far less outlay over an original. It exudes charm, luxury and comfort and the practicality of more modern Jaguar components without compromising on the period feel. It also possesses the added benefit that it will not corrode before your eyes and always draws attention where ever it goes. It represents excellent value for classic motoring.
