Beschreibung
The Morris Minor was launched in 1948, a masterpiece design by Sir Alec Issigonis.
In 1961 for the first time a million cars of the same model had been produced by a British manufacturer. To celebrate this achievement, BMC decided to produce a special edition, a concept not tried before.
The project was to produce 350 Minor millions in a special lilac paint was chosen, with white leather seats trimmed black. Other treats were front and rear over riders, wheel trim embellishers and Morris 1, 000, 000 badging.
January 4th 1961 was the launch date with one car being allocated to each dealer. They are the most prized of the Morris Minor model.
This Million, TJD 517 (The Jolly Dame) was West Ham registered and is number 292. She has had 3 owners, the first a lady kept the car for 50 years, the second, her nephew inherited it in a poor state and me. The registration mark is original and the engine is the original which has been reconditioned.
I purchased her some 6 years ago, she underwent a 2 year, £25, 000+ full restoration at Charles Ware Morris Minor Centre in Bristol. I have used her gently over the last 4 years covering about 5, 000 miles.
She is in superb condition, maybe better than new. She is original, on cross plies but with a brake servo and electronic ignition. The latter easily removed.
She has 12 month MOT and a new service
A Million requiring full restoration sold on 21. 03. 2018 for £7, 200 + fees: £8496.
It has been a difficult decision to sell her but my car collection is growing at a greater pace than my garage space. Please no time-wasters
